The Scholarship

The B-Less scholarship is a one-year award of £2,000 designed to facilitate sustained engagement in focused ministry opportunities among undergraduates for students working towards a graduate degree. Each scholarship is attached to a placement with a ministry initiative within or adjacent to the University. We work with each scholar to craft a placement which is suited to their skills, experience, and opportunities, encouraging them to explore how best they can support undergraduates. Working in a network with other scholars provides them with the chance to serve alongside, and learn from, practiced hands in context.

Training and Teamwork Opportunities

Colloquia and one-on-one supervisions serve to develop and nurture each scholar’s vision for usefulness among undergraduates. We meet regularly as a scholar team to share updates on our placements, raise challenges and problems, and discuss them as a group. This discursive, collaborative to developing ministry usefulness mirrors the larger postgraduate educational experience of seminars and supervisions, and ensures that newer scholars can learn from more experienced scholars – and vice versa!

At the beginning of each academic year we hold a conference for existing and incoming scholars, in the hope of generating an original and adaptable point of view on graduate ministry among undergraduates with applications for the Universities in which we serve. Sporadic creative days also provide the opportunity for a more relaxed review of B-Less’s vision, the University context, and the challenges faced.

This Year’s Scholars

This year we have sixteen outstanding scholars studying and serving in and around Oxford, Durham and Cambridge Universities.
